The summer window is heating up as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all push for major signings before the deadline. Arsenal are in talks over a move for Ezri Konsa, while they are also said to have made a surprise approach for Julian Alvarez’s team-mate Marc Pubill. The Gunners are also believed to be keen on Jules Kounde, while they could yet challenge Liverpool for Bradley Barcola after missing out on Vinicius Jr as Galatasaray bid for Gabriel Martinelli.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Pep Chavarria and are now being linked with a shock swoop for Arsenal’s Martin Zubimendi, having already been offered Myles Lewis-Skelly and set a Friday deadline for Enzo Fernandez offers amid interest from Manchester City. Manchester United are eyeing David Raum as an alternative to Lewis Hall, having also been looking at Lewis-Skelly and Iliman Ndiaye, while Liverpool remain confident of a deal for Barcola as they also target Ibrahim Mbaye.

Liverpool confident over Bradley Barcola deal

Liverpool remain confident of sealing the blockbuster signing of Bradley Barcola, reports claim.

The French forward is Andoni Iraola’s No1 target before the September 1 transfer deadline as he seeks to find a successor to Mohamed Salah at Anfield.

Talks with PSG have been ongoing for some time, with Liverpool also keen on Barcola’s team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye in what would be a separate deal, however the two clubs have appeared some way apart in terms of their respective valuations.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, negotiations remain ongoing and Liverpool are confident over Barcola, who did not feature in the UEFA Super Cup last night.

He says Iraola would use Barcola on the left wing, with teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha then used mainly on the right flank.

Chelsea handed new Martin Zubimendi boost

Chelsea are once again being linked with a surprise swoop for Martin Zubimendi.

The Blues are already said to have been offered Arsenal team-mate Myles Lewis-Skelly in recent days - along with Manchester United - following Bruno Guimaraes’ £75m switch from Newcastle to the Emirates Stadium.

Now they are said to be keen on Zubimendi in the event that Enzo Fernandez leaves Stamford Bridge this month, with a Friday 5pm BST deadline recently set for any bids for the latter.

Chelsea are rumoured to be keen on reuniting the Spaniard with compatriot Xabi Alonso, whom he previously worked with at Real Sociedad.

Remarkably, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal would be open to selling Zubimendi, just one year after signing him for £60m - though would demand around £77m as they look to make a healthy profit.

Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Zubimendi, who previously snubbed Liverpool.

Man Utd eye David Raum as Lewis Hall alternative

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing David Raum as a potential alternative to Lewis Hall.

Signing a new left-back is a priority for Michael Carrick before the transfer deadline as he looks for a long-term successor to Luke Shaw, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford.

According to TEAMtalk, United are yet to give up on Hall, though are now assessing other options amid Newcastle’s refusal to sanction another high-profile summer exit.

One of those options is believed to be Raum, the German international who could be available to sign from RB Leipzig - where he is out of contract next year - for just £30m.

Arsenal launch new Ezri Konsa move

Arsenal are now said to have held more talks over a deal for Ezri Konsa.

The England centre-back has emerged as Mikel Arteta’s primary defensive transfer target this summer, though one approach for his services has already been rebuffed by Aston Villa.

The Daily Mail report that Arsenal have engaged in more discussions with their Premier League rivals over Konsa, who remains on holiday after the World Cup and did not feature for Villa in last night’s 2-1 UEFA Super Cup defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in Salzburg.

However, their latest £40m proposal is significantly below Villa’s £60m valuation of the 28-year-old.

Arsenal make shock Marc Pubill approach

Arsenal have made a shock approach for Spain defender Marc Pubill, reports claim.

The Gunners are known to be keen on signing a versatile new centre-back this month who can also operate on the right-hand side of defence amid injuries to both William Saliba and Jurrien Timber.

Arsenal are believed to be targeting a swoop for Ezri Konsa and have also eyed Jules Kounde, while at the other end of the pitch they have been heavily linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League champions have already made an approach over Alvarez’s Atleti team-mate Pubill, making “some contact to understand about the price” and to ascertain if a “difficult deal” would be possible in this window.

Chelsea set Fernandez deadline

Chelsea have set a hard deadline for any suitors interested in signing Enzo Fernandez this summer.

The Argentina international has attracted interested parties in this transfer window, with Real Madrid and Manchester City both linked with moves for the star.

Now, in a bid to end the long-running saga, Standard Sport understands that the Blues have set a deadline of Friday at 5pm BST for any interested clubs to cough up their £120million asking price for the 25-year-old.

Arteta reveals Arsenal transfer worry

Mikel Arteta has warned there is no guarantee that Arsenal will be able to strengthen as hoped before the end of the transfer window.

Arteta insisted that Arsenal’s desire to do further business in the final weeks of the window is “unquestionable”, but admitted that might not be enough.

“Well, there is more that we want to do because every time we have an opportunity to improve the squad and bring more quality and depth to the squad, we need to do that,” Arteta said.

“We are actively trying to do so. The thing in the market, it doesn't just depend on you and we are very clear on that.

“But the approach, the will and the desire of the club, that's unquestionable and we want to try to do that.”

Romelu Lukaku seals Fenerbahce switch

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has finally engineered his exit from Napoli, joining Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce.

Romero agrees Spurs exit

Cristian Romero will join Atletico Madrid in the coming days after the La Liga side reached an agreement with Tottenham for his sale.

Per Fabrizio Romano, a €40m (£34.2m) package has been agreed, including a 15 per cent sell-on clause.

Inter and Barcelona were both interested in the player but pulled out of the running.

Arsenal also held exploratory talks with Spurs, who were never thought to be keen to sell to a rival.

Chelsea set Fernandez sale deadline

Chelsea have set a deadline for clubs to send an offer for Enzo Fernandez.

Any interested party must send a bid worth £120m by 5pm this Friday, Standard Sport understands, or a sale will not be considered.

The Blues want to lock in their squad for the new season sooner rather than later, and particularly want clarity over Fernandez’s future.
