That was fun. Contreras was cranking them out at one point, but he comes up short on his last couple swings and finishes with nine. Schwarber advances, to the delight of the fans who just spent the last five minutes heering his former teammate.

Like in the first round, Schwarber got off to a slow start then strung together homer after homer. Willson Contreras, who hasn’t hit in an hour and a half, has a high bar to clear.

Schwarber cranks 10. He made outs on on his first five swings before getting hot. He needed 13 to guarantee a spot in the semifinals and had 10 on the magenta final swing ball. Unfortunately, Schwarber laced one into the ground.

This means that one of Schwarber and Harper will advance, and the other won't. Glass half … however you choose to see it, I guess. Bryce is up next.

High drama in the first round! Schwarber started off slow, got hot and wound up on 10, which is enough to eliminate Munetaka Murakami.

Willson Contreras, Jordan Walker and Junior Caminero have all clinched advancement, leaving Schwarber on the hot seat with his teammate Bryce Harper up next. Philadelphia will get one, and only one, of its two players in the semifinals.

The lone returnee from last year's Derby, Junior Caminero launched a dozen long balls in his first round, including some ridiculous blasts to left-center field in excess of 470 feet. The most intriguing moment of his round came on his final swing, when his moon-scraping shot down the left field line appeared to curve around the foul pole for a homer — which would have enabled another swing since it was his last swing of the round — but it landed just to the left and was ruled foul.

But with 12 blasts, Caminero is safely on to the semifinals.
