New masterplan reveals Victoria Park stadium site and pedestrian bridge links

Existing cricket training facilities at Victoria Park will be flooded for an artificial lake, and the new Olympic stadium will be linked to Spring Hill and the National Aquatic Centre by large pedestrian bridges.

The plans were revealed in artist impressions published by premier David Crisafulli on Sunday morning, ahead of a press conference explaining the masterplan.

Renders also show the stadium will be positioned almost dead-centre in the park, with the warm-up track to its south. The track will wrap around a football field.

Another image shows a new public amphitheatre within Victoria Park.

“When we say legacy, this is what we mean,” the premier said in a social media post.

“More than two-thirds of Victoria Park will remain as public green space and be used for decades to come.

“It’s not just Brisbane, right across the state we’re delivering generational sporting infrastructure, with new roads and transport projects.”

The premier was due to speak to the media at 10am with further details on the plan.
