Chelsea exile set for shock La Liga return as Sevilla swoop

Sevilla are actively looking to complete their attacking lineup with a move for Chelsea striker Guiu, as per Mundo Deportivo. The 20-year-old has emerged as a prime target for the Andalusian club this summer.

The Spanish outfit recently reinforced their forward line with the acquisition of Scottish striker Robbie Ure. However, they are still searching for another natural goalscorer to finalise their squad and provide necessary depth before the transfer window officially closes.

Head coach Luis Garcia and sporting director Jose Ignacio Navarro both highly value the prospect of bringing in a third striker. If a deal is struck, Guiu would be expected to compete alongside Ure and Isaac Romero for a starting berth.

The urgent need for attacking reinforcements comes after a summer of significant departures at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. Sevilla notably sold their main reference in attack, Nigerian striker Akor Adams, to Italian side Venezia.

Experienced forwards Alexis Sanchez and Neal Maupay also departed the club during the current transfer window. This massive exodus has left the team undeniably light on options in the final third as they prepare for a demanding domestic campaign.

Initially, Sevilla had targeted a loan move for highly-rated Nigerian forward George Ilenikhena. However, that possibility faded rapidly after he scored two spectacular goals for his current club, Al Ittihad, prompting Sevilla to turn their full attention back to Guiu.

Guiu’s situation at Stamford Bridge has escalated quickly, with the Blues decisively opting to leave the young forward without a squad number for the current campaign. This clear signal has understandably prompted his representatives to actively search for a new destination.

Sevilla's firm interest in the former Barcelona academy graduate is not entirely new. The player's name had already been heavily mentioned as a potential transfer target for the Spanish side at the very beginning of the summer.

According to Spanish outlet Abc, the Andalusian side are now officially renewing their efforts to bring him back to Liga. They view a loan deal as the ideal financial formula to secure the forward.

The young striker is currently navigating his second season in English football following his high-profile move from Catalonia. Guiu has made 29 appearances for Chelsea, scoring eight goals, with the vast majority coming during their triumphant 2025 Conference League campaign.

He subsequently embarked on a brief loan spell at Championship side Sunderland, where he managed just one goal across three total appearances. Guiu has since returned to west London but clearly does not factor into the club's immediate first-team plans.

Despite having three full years remaining on his Chelsea contract, a swift exit now appears completely inevitable. A temporary return to his homeland with Sevilla could provide the perfect platform for Guiu to reignite his promising career with regular minutes.
