Emma Raducanu: British No 1 not selected in GB line-up for Billie Jean King Cup Finals as US Open doubts raised

Emma Raducanu has not been selected by Team GB for September's Billie Jean King Cup Finals in China.

The British No 1 was the notable absentee as Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart, Mika Stojsavljevic and Jodie Burrage were picked in captain Anne Keothavong's team.

Raducanu has not been in action since June 14, when she produced a career-best grass-court run to the final at Queen's before her season was curtailed by injury.

The 23-year-old was subsequently forced to withdraw from Wimbledon due to a stress fracture in her lower right leg and has not played competitively in six weeks.

While not officially confirmed, Raducanu's recovery appears to have cost her the opportunity to play at the BJK Cup Finals in Shenzhen, although she was overlooked for the team's qualifying victory over Australia in April while fit.

There is an option to add a fifth team member closer to the tournament, which runs from September 22-27.

Fitness issues would raises fresh doubt over Raducanu's availability for the US Open, the tournament she sensationally won in 2021, which begins on August 30, live on Sky Sports.

The omission comes a year after Raducanu withdrew from Britain's BJK Cup team to play in the Korea Open on the WTA Tour.

In Raducanu's absence, Great Britain beat Japan to reach a third successive semi-final, where they were eliminated by the United States.

Great Britain's 2026 campaign starts with a quarter-final against 11-time winners the Czech Republic, with the winner progressing to face either Spain or Kazakhstan in the semi-finals.

Defending champions Italy begin their title defence against China, while Ukraine and Belgium contest the other quarter-final on the opposite side of the draw.

"It's a great achievement to reach the Billie Jean King Cup Finals again and I am naming my initial nominations for the GB team," captain Keothavong told the LTA website.

"I'm pleased to select Katie Boulter, who knows what it's like to step up on occasions like this, and the three women who played with so much heart and courage to upset Australia earlier this year, namely Harriet Dart, Mika Stojsavljevic and Jodie Burrage.

"Czechia will be a very challenging first match for us but the players and I believe in our chances, since we have a very strong record in recent finals."
