England vs New Zealand LIVE: First women's ODI, Chester-le-Street

Eng 22-1

Lamb 11, Knight 5

Heather Knight nudges the score on with a cut for two and a pull for one. The sun is back out too which is a help for those in the stands.

Eng 18-1

Target 211

The first boundary comes as Emma Lamb flicks a straight ball fine off her pads. Lamb has plenty of experience - she was a member of the 50-over World Cup side last autumn - but she's yet to really nail down her place.

This is an opportunity for her.

Eng 13-1

Lamb 6, Knight 1

You can see why 21-year-old Grewcock didn't go for it. It felt straight, she's on debut and at the top of the order.

Could Emma Lamb have helped her out from the other end? Grewcock had her head down and was walking off before thinking about it.

The dismissal means Heather Knight is in early.

WICKET

Grewcock lbw b Illing 3 (Eng 10-1)

Gone! Only three runs for Jodi Grewcock on her England debut.

She's missed a full one on the pads from left-armer Bree Illing. Whether she forgot it was available or just didn't think she stood a chance, Grewcock is off the field without seeming to think about a review.

It looked straight.

The key is to be looking for early wickets. If that means giving away boundaries, so be it. You have to try and get England two or three down in the powerplay and get some of these key batters out.

Eng 4-0

This is already a rare occurrence, with Jodi Grewcock being a left-hander. England have barely had one of those since Lydia Greenway retired all of those years ago.

She wafts a little at her first ball.

Eng 4-0

It's the older Kerr sister, seamer Jess, who begins proceedings for the White Ferns. She starts accurately, opening up with four dots, but Emma Lamb ends the over by tucking two twos into the leg side.

Jodi Grewcock will face her first ball in international cricket.

Eng 0-0

Target 211

It's Emma Lamb on strike with debutant Jodi Grewcock at the other end.

This is an interesting partnership because 21-year-old Grewcock, one of the most highly rated young batters around, primarily bats in the middle order in domestic cricket.

But now the focus turns to the batting.

Remember this is an inexperienced England batting line-up without Nat Sciver-Brunt, Tammy Beaumont, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and others.

This score should be chaseable but can they do it?

Post

One thing that cannot be overlooked today is England's fielding. There has been so much talk about whether it has improved.

In the first 20 overs or so today there was little evidence it had. There were fumbles, boundaries leaked and one particularly poor drop from Maia Bouchier.

Post

Tilly Corteen-Coleman seemed to fit in very nicely on her debut today.

The 18-year-old didn't do anything spectacular but that's not necessarily her thing. She was steady throughout - at no point seeming overawed by the occasion.

New Zealand collapsed poorly after Melie Kerr's soft dismissal, getting out to a full toss from Jodi Grewcock.

Just before Melie Kerr's dismissal NZ were 147-2 (34.1 overs), losing 63-8 in the next 14.3 overs.

Post

In the Women's One-Day Cup this season the first-innings scores at Chester-le-Street have been 303-8, 311-3 and 240-8.

That would appear to suggest this total from New Zealand is slightly below par although worth noting none of those totals were chased down.
