The IPL's checklist for the month of May often ticks off these boxes - intermittent and unexpected rain in certain parts of the country, teams at the top dropping games and those at the bottom picking themselves up. Another familiar presence on this checklist is the bandwagon foraying into the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, amidst the backdrop of the Himalayan range.Adapting to a second 'home' ground at a time when a team's campaign reaches a critical juncture is far from easy. The Rajasthan Royals will testify to this, having gone winless at their primary home ground this season in three attempts. For the Punjab Kings, the shift to Dharamsala comes at a time when arresting a string of three defeats is imperative, with recent results belying the runaway train that they were in the first half. There has been little to worry about from a batting standpoint save for the game against Gujarat Titans when the Kings were blown away in the Powerplay. In saying that, they have been put under the pump whenever teams have got past Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh early, with a short-ball template emerging as an effective option against the former. Cooper Connolly's hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad underlined what has turned into an impressive debut IPL stint while Suryansh Shedge has shown promising signs too. There is no denying that it's the bowling that is the bigger concern for PBKS. They haven't been helped by regulation catches going down too often, but the form of spearheads Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh remains a concern to address, particularly on a Dharamsala surface that is known to aid run-scoring.Up against the Kings first up though are a beleaguered outfit against whom they effortlessly chased down a 265-run target earlier in the season. A promising start in the first week is well and truly a thing of the past for the Delhi Capitals and with a maximum of 14 points up for grabs and an alarmingly poor net run-rate to recover, Axar Patel hinted at giving the benchwarmers a go with an eye on the next season. The writing may be on the wall for DC but it's situations like these that tend to unshackle teams who have little to lose. And that makes them a slippery banana peel for a PBKS side desperate to return to winning ways. What to expect: A cool day with thunderstorms on the radar in the afternoon. The forecast is expected to get better during match hours although the odd shower is likely. The average first innings score at the venue since IPL 2023 is 209 - the best among the 14 venues used in the timeframe, even as the sample size is just five matches. Expect the ball to soar into the stands if this is anything to go by.Tactics & Matchups: Vijaykumar Vyshak might be the only PBKS seamer going at under 10 per over this season, but there is a case to recall Harpreet Brar to bowl in the Powerplay, considering Pathum Nissanka's struggles against spin (SR of 127.5 in T20s since 2025). Fast bowling coach James Hopes suggested that Omarzai's return gives the Kings an "opportunity to switch things up a little bit" to play two spinners, although with Lockie Ferguson bowling well without much fortune with the catching in Hyderabad, it is tough to see him making way.Tactics & Matchups: Axar has dismissed Marcus Stoinis four times in T20s with the latter going at a strike-rate of 69.23. The DC skipper might want to consider holding an over of himself back in accordance with Stoinis' entry point. Kuldeep Yadav's poor form could see him sit out this contest, potentially opening the door for an extra seamer in Auqib Nabi in conditions that could aid swing early on, or a spin-bowling all-rounder in Ajay Mandal."The bowlers have had to work hard and the batsmen have had to work hard also because they understand that 240 is what they need to get. We'll assess the conditions. I think tomorrow night you can expect to see exactly what we're seeing in every game at the moment - fast starts in the Powerplay and then teams working their way back into it in the middle overs and then the execution at the end will come down to which team does that best I think with the ball" - James Hopes, PBKS' fast bowling coach"It's been inconsistent. I think we sit here now and you look at a few games where we had our opportunities, and I think when you play in the IPL and at the highest level of cricket against world-class players, you have to take those moments, and we probably haven't done that ruthlessly enough" - Ian Bell, Delhi Capitals' assistant coach
