Argentina rugby team brutally taunt England with special shirt to mock Three Lions after World Cup KO

ARGENTINA trolled England by wearing 1986 World Cup shirts… for a rugby match.

The Three Lions suffered semi-final heartache in agonising fashion on Wednesday.

And just three days later, Argentina took a cheeky swipe at their rivals in their Nations Championship showdown.

The Pumas faced the Red Rose at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.

But instead of their traditional white and light blue strip, the hosts swapped for a special one-off darker blue retro Le Coq Sportif kit with shiny silver numbers – just like the outfit worn by the football team in 1986.

That was the kit that Diego Maradona was in when he scored the Hand of God and his incredible solo goal minutes later to dump England out.

Argentina wore another lucky navy number for the Lionel Messi-inspired comeback victory in Atlanta to set up the final with Spain.

But the rugby team’s cheeky stunt certainly attracted plenty of attention on social media amid the fiery rivalry between the two nations.

Argentina wrote: “Memories that span generations and remain alive in the collective memory.

“Today that legacy dresses up again.”

One rugby fan wrote: “Top s***housery to be fair.”

Another wrote: “Pathetic.”

A third added: “This is the best bit of s***housery I’ve seen as a whole team.”

And a final user commented: “Argentina rugby team wearing 1986 World Cup jersey replicas against England in a rugby match after their football team just beat them in the World Cup semi-final is vile.”

England’s rugby team switched their hotel in Buenos Aires to avoid potentially getting caught up in World Cup celebrations.

But at least the English did get the last laugh as they ran out 31-24 winners.
