Koivunen has turned out for a long list of clubs in her career to date. In addition to her latest club, she has featured for Pyrkivä Turku, TPS, HJK, Linköping FC, IFK Kalmar and IF Brommapojkarna.

On the international stage, Koivunen has been capped by Finland on 14 occasions at senior level.

After joining Charlton Athletic, Koivunen said “I’m really excited to be here. It’s been a couple of stressful days now, but I’m super-excited to be here and meet the girls soon.

“I’ve always wanted to play in England. I think the league is really interesting; there’s a lot of good players and I feel like the things you did last year were really, really good and I’m excited to be here and do even better.
