Super Falcons Players Allege $1220 Stolen From Team Hotel Rooms In Morocco Ahead Of WAFCON Tournament

Several members of Nigeria's senior women's national football team, the Super Falcons, have reportedly complained that cash was stolen from their rooms while they were staying at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco.

The alleged theft reportedly occurred while the players were away from their hotel rooms, raising concerns over the security of the team's accommodation.

According to reports, Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo lost $700, while team captain Rasheedat Ajibade allegedly had $200 stolen.

Veteran defender Osinachi Ohale reportedly lost $100, midfielder Halimatu Ayinde also claimed $100 was taken from her room, while Joy Omewa allegedly lost $120.

The total amount reportedly stolen from the affected players is $1,220.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) nor officials of the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca had issued an official statement addressing the allegations.

It also remains unclear whether the incident has been reported to Moroccan security authorities or whether an investigation has commenced.

The Super Falcons are currently in Morocco for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they have reached the final in pursuit of a record-extending continental title.

The alleged theft has sparked concerns over the welfare and security of the Nigerian players during the tournament.
