PNG continue stunning recruitment spree with Lomax reveal
Zac Lomax has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him return to the NRL, with the former NSW star unveiled as the PNG Chiefs′ fifth signing.The announcement comes just days after Lomax was spotted on a flight to PNG where he met with the club’s general manager of football Michael Chammas.AdvertisementA video of Lomax announcing his arrival to a host of PNG fans at Santos National Football Stadium was published to the team’s social media on Sunday.“PNG, thank you very much guys. It’s an absolute privilege,” Lomax said.“I am super honoured to be committed to you guys, and it’s such a great opportunity for all of us boys and everyone that is going to be coming over to the PNG Chiefs.“We are going to shock the NRL, I am telling you and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”The announcement marks the end of what has been a rollercoaster 12 months for Lomax, who has been linked to make his return to the NRL in the near future.At the start of the year, Lomax was all but set to depart the Parramatta Eels and join R360, only for the controversial rival competition’s start date to be delayed.With R360 no longer an option for the 2026 season, Lomax made the move to join the Western Force in the Super Rugby.AdvertisementHe will now return to rugby league when the Chiefs join the competition in 2028.“Zac is clearly a tremendous talent and a player that has already achieved a high level of success,” Chammas said in a statement.“His versatility, goal-kicking ability and desire to contribute make him a fantastic addition to our roster, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Chiefs in 2028.”Jarome Luai, Alex Johnston, Connor Watson and Matty Lees have already made deals with the Chiefs.
