Two of the most decorated athletes in history, Novak Djokovic and Eileen Gu, will co-host the 2026 Laureus World Sports Awards.The Olympic gold medallists are among a galaxy of stars in Madrid for the prestigious award ceremony on Monday (20 April) at the Palacio de Cibeles.Tennis legend Djokovic, who holds the record for the most Grand Slam singles titles with 24, has won the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year five times. Freestyle skiing icon Gu, meanwhile, is a six-time Olympic medallist who won the 2023 Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year.“Last year, I was privileged to present Mondo Duplantis with his Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award – and this time I am delighted to be hosting the show with Eileen, a remarkable athlete who also understands the purpose and mission of Laureus,” said Djokovic in a press release.“To now be part of the show as a host, alongside Novak – someone whose journey and accomplishments I’ve admired for so long – is a real honour,” added the People's Republic of China star.The pair will guide the proceedings at the 27th annual awards, where winners will be crowned across categories including Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year, Team of the Year, Breakthrough of the Year and Comeback of the Year.
