Toni Kroos says everyone is missing why Arsenal could easily beat PSG

Arsenal know they are underdogs going into the Champions League final against PSG but Toni Kroos believes people are underestimating the Gunners.

Arsenal have had a superb Champions League campaign and have conceded the least goals out of every team, while also failing to lose a game as yet.

Any other year, Arsenal would be favourites but PSG have been so good that most are backing the French side to do the business.

However, according to German legend Kroos, there are key points that people are missing about Arsenal.

Toni Kroos warns PSG not to underestimate how good Arsenal are

Toni Kroos is a man who knows about winning the Champions League having won it six times with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Indeed, the German believes that Arsenal have already shown how good they can be as he backed their record against PSG’s.

“I was thinking about all the opinions going around: “Paris vs Bayern was the real final,” “they played incredible football,” “what a tie.” And yes, fair enough, it was a fantastic matchup over both legs. But then people say, “That should have been the final,” and I look at Arsenal: they won every game in the league phase, haven’t lost a single match in the entire Champions League campaign. Sure, there were a lot of 1–0 wins and some draws… but that doesn’t matter. A 1–0 in the final is enough too,” Kroos said on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast.

“That’s why I say they absolutely deserve to be in the final. Of course they do. They’ve conceded six goals in… what is it now? Let’s count: eight matches in the league phase, two in the round of 16 makes ten, two in the quarter-finals makes twelve, two in the semi-finals makes fourteen. Six goals conceded in 14 Champions League games. Then you deserve to be in the final. Full stop.

“And by the way, one of those games in the league phase was Bayern clearly and deservedly losing in London against Arsenal. That matters too.

“There were also games against Leverkusen, we remember their away struggles. But it’s the Champions League, it’s knockout football. Still, I feel Bayern vs Paris overshadowed everything so much that Arsenal’s campaign has gone a bit under the radar, even though they’ve absolutely deserved it too, just with a different style of football.

“And because everyone is saying “Paris or Bayern, whoever wins that will win the whole thing,” I’m saying Arsenal’s style could actually be exactly what works in a final. Finals are rarely 5–4 thrillers. Finals are about protecting your own goal first. And I think Arsenal are probably slightly better than Paris at that.

“Of course, this will also be Arsenal’s ultimate test, proving it again on the biggest stage. Assuming nobody flies into a tackle in the ninth minute and gets sent off.”

Arsenal’s task against PSG is a massive one in terms of keeping the French side out.

However, with the Gunners having such a brilliant defensive record, they will back themselves to do it one more time and keep another clean sheet.

If they do, then there is a high chance that the Gunners can sneak a win. Arsenal’s record on scoring from set-pieces is also impressive and in the end, that might be the deciding factor.
