FAI to refund season ticket holders over Israel ties

The FAI have announced that they will refund season ticket holders following the decision to play the upcoming home fixture against Israel behind closed doors in Serbia.

Season ticket holders will be offered either 'an account credit' or a monetary refund for the value of this fixture - which is akin to one fifth of the season ticket cost.

They added that all season ticket holders will accrue loyalty points in lieu of not being able to attend the fixture.

Ireland's 2026-27 Nations League campaign starts away to Kosovo in Pristina on 24 September.

The build-up has been entirely overshadowed by the debate surrounding the back-to-back fixtures against Israel on 27 September and 1 October, which have been moved to Hungary and Serbia respectively.

The FAI have resisted pressure from 'Stop the Game' campaigners advocating a boycott on the fixtures on account of the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Last month, the FAI's motion to proceed with the games passed with a 68% majority, the association citing "the profound impact that non-fulfilment of UEFA fixtures would have on Irish football as a whole and its future development."
