Auckland FC fans took the streets on Sunday to celebrate the club taking home the A-League championship title on Saturday night.The Black Knights clinched a 1-0 win over five-time Grand Final champs Sydney FC at Go-Media Stadium and supporters could not be happier.Players travelled by bus down Queen Street in the city centre, flanked by thousands of supporters.Fans could not get enough of seeing their favourite players hoisting the championship trophy from the top of the double decker, as music and celebration filled the central city.Supporters Simon and Gloria, said the win was huge for the team."It's really put Auckland and football on the radar now," Simon said ."I think we've got the worlds attention now for what we're capable of.""New Zealand should be so proud of them," Gloria said.Another pair, Ingrid and Andrew were still buzzing from the previous night's final.Ingrid said the win spelt big things for the future of the sport locally."I just think it's incredible, the people who were there last night and the kids and the adoration on their faces. It's going to be huge for New Zealand football."Fans of all ages were out hoping to get a glimpse of their favourite players, as well as the A-League trophy.With celebrations and speeches in front of screaming fans in Britomart, coach Steve Corica said the celebration came after an amazing night."Very special for obviously the players and staff but also these fans who have been turning up in the pouring rain a lot of the time, full credit to them for turning up, full house at home, winning one nil, it's pretty special isn't it," he said.Corica said the fans were the future for Auckland FC."It's going to grow and grow," he said."There's a lot of young kids out there wanting autographs, but they're going to be the future as well for Auckland FC, and these boys have led the way."The club's meteoric rise has left a huge mark on their fans, who will now be turning their eyes to the World Cup in June.
