JJ Gabriel is in line for his maiden Manchester United first-team appearance against Rosenborg this week.

Gabriel, 15, took part in United’s training session on Monday and is under consideration to be included in their squad to travel to Norway.

United return to Trondheim for their second pre-season friendly on Friday and a similar squad to the one that lost to Wrexham on Saturday is expected to be named.

The striker was not back at United’s Carrington training complex last week but still posted a cryptic message after the United squad was announced for their opening friendly against Wrexham.

“The longer you wait for something the more you appreciate it when you get it because anything worth having is worth waiting for,” Gabriel wrote on his Instagram Story.

Gabriel plundered 26 goals in 29 appearances for United’s youth team last season as they reached the FA Youth Cup final.

Alex Scott advantage

Manchester United could have a secret weapon that might tip the transfer race for Bournemouth star Alex Scott in their favour.

Scott rejected a new contract with the Cherries after entering the final two years of his deal with the club.

United are among the clubs who want to add the £80million-rated midfielder to their ranks, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham also in the chase.

It is understood the Blues submitted a £64million offer for the England international but saw it rejected as Bournemouth told the Blues in no uncertain terms they wanted to keep him – Arsenal also saw an approach rebuffed in June.

United can offer the 22-year-old Champions League football and therefore a host of minutes but the ace up their sleeve to convince him to head to Old Trafford could be sourced from their women’s team.

The captain of Man Utd Women is Lionesses star Maya Le Tissier, who is Scott’s stepsister.

Le Tissier and the Bournemouth star both come from the Channel Island of Guernsey.

She has spoken glowingly about her relationship with Scott, whom she has known since they were children and even travelled and trained together, including playing football in their hotel room.

Liverpool have joined the bidding war for Roma star Manu Kone, who is strongly linked with Manchester United.

Just as it seemed that United were leading the way, some reports suggest the Reds have been keeping tabs on Kone.

Other sources claim the Merseysiders are ready to finalise a deal for the midfielder.

Man Utd had been claimed to be the favourites, ahead of Arsenal, but Liverpool are now in the mix.

Bayindir exit latest

Altay Bayindir has been granted additional time off by Manchester United ahead of his expected departure.

Bayindir, 28, was on World Cup duty with Turkey but did not play in any of their three group stage games.

Turkey failed to progress to the knockout stage and last played on June 26 when they beat the United States.

Bayindir has had his mandatory three-week break but neither he nor Amad Diallo will return to United’s Carrington training complex this week.

Tyler Fletcher reported for pre-season last week after remaining an unused substitute in all three of Scotland’s World Cup games.

Amad played in all four of Ivory Coast’s World Cup games and scored the winner against Ecuador and in the round-of-32 knockout defeat against Norway

Former Fenerbahce keeper Bayindir is expected to return to Turkey, with a move to Besiktas touted.

Summerville to Al-Hilal

Al-Hilal have agreed a shock £68million deal to sign Crysencio Summerville from West Ham.

The Dutch international had been a target for Manchester United and Roma following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship.

A bid from the Giallorossi had already been rejected this summer.

West Ham have now raised more than £150m in sales since relegation, with Mateus Fernandes having joined Tottenham for £85m – a huge factor in being able to keep captain Jarrod Bowen and offer him a new deal.

Summerville joined the Hammers from Leeds for £25m in 2024 and has scored eight goals in 56 appearances.

The winger is now due to join the Saudi Pro League side at their pre-season camp in Austria after competing a medical.

Man Utd season tickets restricted

Manchester United have been accused of treating supporters as “suspects” after thousands of season-ticket accounts were restricted.

United have restricted accounts where username and login details are shared with more than six different people amid an attempted clampdown on touting.

However, it is understood the most skilled touts have not been affected as they use innovative methods to get around United’s settings.

One long-time season ticket holder posted on X on Monday night: “Had the dreaded email from United. 22 years, home & away, every game. Upwards of 75 European aways, and now it’s over. Finished.

“And for what? Helping my mum forward a ticket.”

United have been accused of creating an “environment where loyal fans fear losing relationships with the club that have been built over decades”.

And the club’s president has now admitted they will listen to offers for the Colombian, who appeared at the recent World Cup.

Claudio Fenucci said: “Lucumí can leave because we promised him this last year. We asked him to stay another year, promising him that if a suitable offer arrived the following year, he could leave.

He added: “We’ll see if a suitable offer arrives, but if that’s the case we’ll satisfy him, otherwise he’ll stay with us.”

The midfielder spent last season at Scottish Prem outfit St Mirren and is keen to keep playing as much as possible.

He said: “Obviously I want to play first-team football, whether that be at Manchester United for the next year or not.

“The main aim and goal for me is to play for Manchester United week in, week out.

“So whether I have to go on loan again and gain more valuable experience like I did at St Mirren, or whether that be in the building, learning from the best which is here at Manchester United, we’ll see what happens.”

Saha urges Rashford to snub Arsenal

Former Man United star Louis Saha has had his say on reports Marcus Rashford could be on his way to the Emirates this summer.

The England winger spent last season on loan at Barcelona and a return doesn’t look likely after the Spanish giants signed Anthony Gordon for £70m.

Amid speculation Arsenal could be a contender, Saha said United shouldn’t strengthen a rival.

He told BettingLounge: “Marcus Rashford to Arsenal or Chelsea? For a club of this dimension, it would be a huge mistake to give that kind of talent to a rival.

“Imagine United giving Rashford to Arsenal and he scores 25 goals to help them win the league or Champions League. That would be bad business. Regardless of the money, you don’t do things like that.”
