Academy football may have concluded for another season, but Manchester United are working hard to bring more talented youngsters to the club during the summer months.

The 2025/26 season was a positive one for Manchester United at the under-18 and under-21 levels, even though both teams fell short of winning a trophy.

Star performers include the winner of the Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year award, JJ Gabriel, as well as Jim Thwaites, Noah Ajayi, and Godwill Kukonki.

Ineos have prioritised young signings at United, with many recruited since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became co-owner at the club. Examples include Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi, Diego Leon, Sekou Kone, Patrick Dorgu and Leny Yoro.

Man Utd-linked Jeremy Monga valued at £15m after Leicester City suffer relegation

Monga made his senior debut for Leicester City aged 15, during a 3-0 Premier League defeat against Newcastle.

The winger became the second-youngest player to ever debut in the Premier League, behind Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.

This season, in the Championship, Monga has become a regular in the Leicester City team.

With one goal to his name in 30 appearances across all competitions, the 16-year-old became the youngest player to score in the Championship.

Monga started 10 of those matches, with 20 coming as a substitute, but he is still one to watch for the future.

This has led to United being linked with Monga, but it sounds like progress is being made on a potential deal for the teenage talent.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have held talks with Leicester over a possible move for Monga.

It is understood that interested clubs have been informed of a £15 million price tag for the player.

United could take advantage of Leicester City’s relegation to League One by signing their most talented youngster.

Monga will celebrate his 17th birthday and is also being linked with a move to Premier League champions Arsenal.

Who was the last player Man Utd signed from Leicester City?

The last player United brought to Old Trafford from the King Power Stadium was Harry Maguire in 2018.

Maguire signed a new contract at United this year and is set to remain at the club for another season.

Monga could follow in Maguire’s footsteps because he’s unlikely to spend next season in League One.

That said, United are likely to face stiff competition for Monga’s signature should they step up their interest with a bid for the highly-rated prospect.
