The squad is led by star striker Erling Haaland of Manchester City and captain Martin Ødegaard of Arsenal, who are expected to spearhead Norway’s campaign in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Solbakken’s selection is heavily dominated by players based in England and Europe’s top leagues, with only four coming from the domestic Norwegian league.

He said the squad reflects a group that has delivered consistent results over time.

“We believe we have a strong squad. This is a team that has delivered good results over a long period. We have reached an A level in the Nations League and qualified unbeaten from the qualifiers. The core of this group has always been solid, both on and off the pitch,” Solbakken said, as quoted by the Norwegian Football Federation.

“I am most looking forward to boarding the plane and starting our daily routine there, so we can fine-tune the mental, physical, and tactical aspects before everything begins.”

Norway topped Group I in European qualifying with a perfect 24 points from eight matches, finishing six points ahead of Italy, who again failed to qualify for a third straight World Cup.

At the 2026 World Cup, Norway have been drawn in Group I alongside Iraq, Senegal, and France.

They open their campaign against Iraq on June 17 at Gillette Stadium, before facing Senegal on June 23 at MetLife Stadium. Their final group match is against France on June 27, also at Gillette Stadium.
