Rafael Jodar vs Arthur Fils prediction

It feels like only a matter of time before Rafael Jodar wins his second ATP tour event and the way he’s been playing over the past few days in Montreal, it would be no surprise to see him do so at the Canadian Open, which would be by far the biggest achievement so far of his prodigious young career. He now faces a player in Arthur Fils, whom he has already recently defeated on an outdoor hard court, winning in straight sets less than a month ago at the Mubadala DC Open.

To have lost to the same opponent on the same surface so recently doesn’t bode well for Fils, who will need to increase his level of performance to get the better of a young star beginning to hit his peak over this past week of competition. But the Frenchman has been impressive recently too, beating both Mariano Navone and Cameron Norrie in two sets, dropping no more than three games in three of the four sets.

However, it’s hard to look past how good Jodar was against a high-level opponent in eighth seed Jiri Lehecka this past weekend, defeating him 6-3, 6-3. The young Spaniard remains in red-hot form and has to be favoured to advance.
