Tennis world number two Jannik Sinner extended his dominance over Alexander Zverev on Saturday (11 April), defeating the world number three 6-1, 6-4 to reach the 2026 Monte-Carlo Masters final for the first time.

The Italian has now won eight consecutive matches against his German opponent and has become the first man since Olympic champion Novak Djokovic in 2015 to make the opening three Masters 1000 finals in a single season.

Sinner remained in control throughout the contest. Although both players landed 59 per cent of their first serves, the Italian was markedly more effective behind his delivery, winning 87 per cent of first serve points compared to Zverev’s 44 per cent. He also converted all four of his break point opportunities, while not facing a single break point on his own serve.

Zverev found his form after a difficult opening set and held serve early in the second, but the momentum stayed firmly in Sinner's hands over the 82-minute match.

Sinner now enters the final having already claimed both Masters titles this season at Indian Wells and Miami. His latest victory extends an extraordinary run to 21 consecutive wins at the Masters level, a streak dating back to the Paris Masters last November.

“I’m very happy. We came here trying to give myself some feedback [on clay] and now finding myself in the final means a lot to me,” Sinner said.

“Obviously, every match, every day is different, so I’m very happy about today’s performance. I felt really solid from the beginning. When you are a break up straightaway, it changes the dynamic of the match, so very happy and let’s see what’s coming in the final.”

Sinner will face the winner of the second semi-final between defending champion and world number one Carlos Alcaraz and Valentin Vacherot, who are scheduled to meet at 15:30 CEST on Court Rainier III.

Should Alcaraz advance, the final would mark the first meeting between him and Sinner this year, renewing their increasingly intense rivalry at the top of the sport as both continue to battle for the world No. 1 ranking.
