Conor McKenna's dad was tackled by a security guard after attempting to join in on his son's historic AFL Premiership win.

Former Tyrone GAA star McKenna became the first Irish player to win two AFL Premiership titles as Brisbane Lions edged Fremantle Dockers 96-89 in a dramatic Grand Final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

A crowd of 100,023 watched on as McKenna chipped in with a goal, three behinds and 10 disposals as Brisbane came from behind to get over the line and secure another Premiership.

His goal arrived in the second quarter when he reacted quickest to a bouncing ball before cleverly poking it between the posts.

The win adds another major honour to an already impressive collection for the 30-year-old, who played a key role in Tyrone's 2021 Sam Maguire Cup win.

Meanwhile, Conor's father Pat McKenna felt the brunt of local security after the game ended as the celebrations ensued.

Family were not permitted to join in the initial celebrations so he took things into his own hands, jumping the fence and charging towards his son.

Security assumed he was just a pitch invader and carried out their duties, tackling the racehorse trainer to the ground before Conor intervened to calm the chaos.

Draped in the tricolour, McKenna defused the situation and gave Pat a warm embrace before they both joined in on the festivities.

Mad stuff altogether.

Conor was elated after his side's comeback win, telling AFL.com.au: "It is just unbelievable. Probably not a lot went our way.

We didn't play that well, and with three minutes to go we're down by 17 points, so it's just an unbelievable team.

"To win that at that stage is just crazy. I don't know how to describe it."

McKenna is hungry for more glory Down Under, adding: "Yeah, hopefully (I will be here next year).

'I'm happy to come back, so we'll see what happens."

He is just the second player, after Kerry’s Tadhg Kennelly, to win both an All-Ireland medal and an AFL Premiership.

He has certainly made the most of his talents in Australia.
