Marta Kostyuk reached her second semi-final of the season as she got past Ann Li in three sets. Kostyuk looked on course for a resounding win as she took the first set without the drop of game and then went on to serve for the match in the second. However, Li responded by breaking back and then taking the match into a decider after winning the tiebreak. Kostyuk, who is the top seed at this event, regrouped to win 6-0 6-7 (4) 6-3.

She now faces Tatjana Maria. The German continued her best run at an event this year as she got past Iryna Shymanovich in straight sets. Maria was in control of the first set at 5-2 up, only for Shymanovich to reel off four games and serve for the set herself. Maria broke back and won the set on a tiebreak. The second was far more comfortable as she won 7-6 (5) 6-2.

Kostyuk leads the head-to-head 2-0 after two dominant wins, but this is their first match on a clay court. Maria could frustrate the Ukrainian, but this is a match Kostyuk should be winning.
