Arsenal reach agreement to sign Liverpool striker

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign a Liverpool striker this summer.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal have reached an agreement with the player, while the two clubs are now negotiating a transfer fee for the forward.

Liverpool have also been active in the transfer market this summer as Andoni Iraola looks to close the gap on Premier League champions Arsenal.

The Reds have already strengthened their squad with the additions of Spanish winger Victor Munoz and young French centre-back Jeremy Jacquet. A move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola is also under discussion.

Arsenal, meanwhile, head into the new season as Premier League champions after winning the title last term.

Mikel Arteta’s side have continued to invest across the club, with their recruitment extending beyond the first team to the academy.

That recruitment drive now extends to Liverpool’s own ranks.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal have reached an agreement with England youth international striker Vincent Joseph to join the club from Anfield.

An agreement is in place between Arsenal and the 16-year-old, though the two clubs are still negotiating a compensation fee. If they cannot agree terms, the case will go to a tribunal, a standard process when a player under 24 switches clubs before signing a first professional contract, or after one expires.

The Professional Football Compensation Committee would then determine the fee, weighing factors including Joseph’s age, playing record, time spent at Liverpool, the status of both clubs, and the terms each side offered him.

Joseph has scored eight goals in nine appearances for England’s under-16 side and featured for Liverpool’s under-18s in the Premier League.

He did not sign scholarship terms at Anfield this summer after his schoolboy registration contract expired, leaving him free to negotiate a move elsewhere.
