Tommy Paul has admitted he had a 'PTSD moment' during his semifinal U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships win over Frances Tiafoe.

Just a week prior, the 28-year-old lost out to Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open, with Paul losing back-to-back tie-breaker sets after having won the opening one. Against Tiafoe, he emerged victorious, defeating his compatriot 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(7).

However, with him having lost to Fils after back-to-back tiebreakers, there was a chance, by his own admission, he could have come undone against Tiafoe, and Paul admitted during his semifinal win in Houston that he was trying his hardest not to think about his last tournament exit. Meanwhile, billionaire tennis heiress Jessica Pegula recently revealed her Tennis 'super power'.

He added: "I felt like I did a good job of playing big when I needed to. That was an incredible match with Big Foe. I watched his match last night.

"He’s been always one of the most entertaining guys to watch. I’m so happy we got to play that match here today. It’s been a while since we had a battle like that.

"Pretty cool to do it here in front of you guys. First final here in Houston. I couldn’t be more excited. I had my first ever tour level win here. It’s obviously a very special place for me. I’m gonna come out and do my best tomorrow. Hopefully we can go home with the big trophy."
