Cristiano Ronaldo is playing in the final FIFA World Cup of his legendary career. Ahead of Portugal's Round of 32 clash with Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Portuguese captain's sister, Kátia Aveiro, spoke about his international future and suggested that his time with the national team may soon come to an end.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo has not officially announced his retirement from international football, Kátia Aveiro said that, based on information she has received, the 2026 World Cup will be his farewell with Portugal.

"From the information I have, he could say goodbye. Not today, but I believe this is the farewell. I mean the national team. According to a reliable source, this is the 'last dance'—the World Cup."

If that proves to be the case, Cristiano would close an extraordinary international career that includes the UEFA Euro 2016 title and the 2019 and 2025 UEFA Nations League trophies.

Throughout his career, Cristiano Ronaldo has faced constant scrutiny despite becoming one of the most successful footballers in history.

Kátia Aveiro insisted that the criticism has never affected her family and reflected on everything they overcame before reaching the top.

"He's been dominating for more than 20 years. Look where the Aveiro family is today... and where we came from. Look at everything my mother went through. Do you really think criticism is going to affect our happiness? Never!"
