Manchester United are still prioritising a move for Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall over Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly.

United were reportedly offered the chance to sign the versatile Arsenal teenager, but Hall remains the player who has attracted the most interest from the Red Devils.

The 21-year-old has also emerged as a willing candidate for the move, with Hall reportedly keen on swapping Newcastle for Old Trafford.

That comes after a hugely turbulent summer at St James’ Park, with Newcastle losing manager Eddie Howe as well as star trio Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.

Wayne Rooney lands new Man Utd podcast

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has landed a new podcast job alongside outspoken fan Mark Goldbridge.

The pair will host Stick to United, a new 50-episode show focused on the Red Devils, following Disney+’s multi-million-pound deal for Gary Neville’s The Overlap.

Rooney and Goldbridge will work alongside Neville’s Stick to Football, which continues to feature Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright and Roy Keane.

The shows will be available on Disney+ and YouTube, with subscribers also receiving access to 20 exclusive episodes before their wider release.

Dermot Mee may have given Manchester United something to think about after his heroics in the shootout win over Leeds at Croke Park.

Manchester United defender Godwill Kukonki is reportedly set to remain at Old Trafford this summer following talks with club chiefs.

The 18-year-old has been a notable absentee during pre-season and speculation had been mounting over his future, with Kukonki yet to sign a professional deal despite entering the third year of his scholarship.

However, the Manchester Evening News reports that Kukonki has decided not to leave United this summer.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez has been appointed France’s new goalkeeping coach.

The 55-year-old will work alongside new boss Zinedine Zidane, with the pair reunited after playing key roles in France’s golden generation.

Manchester United academy winger Ethan Williams has completed a permanent move to Peterborough United.

The 20-year-old has signed a long-term deal with the League One club for a sizeable undisclosed fee and will wear the No10 shirt.

Williams featured during United’s pre-season tour, scoring in the 5-0 win over Rosenborg after previously enjoying loan spells with Falkirk and Cheltenham.

The winger admitted it was the right time to move on, saying: “I have been out on loan at a couple of clubs, have gained a lot of experience of men’s football and felt it was the right time to leave United and sign for Peterborough.”

Carrick hints at AC Milan appearance for Rashford

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has suggested Marcus Rashford could feature against AC Milan in their next pre-season friendly.

Rashford has only been back in training for a few days, but Carrick says the forward has returned in excellent spirits ahead of the new campaign.

“I think De Zerbi is the perfect man-manager for someone like Rashford. He’s a manager who will get the best out of him. I think he’d be a good signing.”

Man Utd in £43m race for Club Brugge striker

Manchester United are among a host of clubs keeping a close eye on Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi this summer.

The Germany Under-21 international is also attracting interest from Chelsea, Tottenham and Barcelona, with the striker market proving particularly difficult — and expensive — this window.

Tresoldi could be available for around €45-50million (£39-43m), with Club Brugge already rejecting a €35m offer from Roma.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has hailed Youri Tielemans as the “signing of the summer” following his move to Old Trafford.

Foster said via talkSPORT: “I’ve watched a load of transfers happen, Tottenham spending a lot of money, Arsenal have just spent a lot of money, but I still think Youri Tielemans is the signing of the summer so far.

“For £30m (£35m), whatever it was, he is a ready-made, good-to-go, starting XI player and if you can spend that money on a ready-to-go starter then it’s worth every single penny.”

However, Foster believes United still need one more major addition up front.

He added: “I still think they need that one focal point striker, that one big boy striker. The problem is, where are you going to get it from? And it’s going to cost you £100m, it’s the way it goes nowadays.”

Bruno Fernandes remains Man Utd centre of attention

Bruno Fernandes was the star attraction as Manchester United drew 1-1 with Leeds in front of a packed Croke Park.

Manchester United have been backed to make a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as they look to provide Benjamin Sesko with more competition.

Former United midfielder Quinton Fortune believes Jackson could be an option, particularly with the Senegal international understood to be available this summer.

Fortune said: “Nicolas Jackson is an option for Manchester United. He’s just an out-and-out striker.

“He doesn’t really care about anything else apart from getting into the box and getting on the end of whatever service he’s provided, and there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s still the hardest part of the game.”

United are exploring the striker market, although any move could depend on Joshua Zirkzee leaving first.

Carrick gives Rashford update

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has confirmed Marcus Rashford has returned to Old Trafford in good shape ahead of the new season.

Carrick said: “Rashford is our player and he’s come back great.

Manchester United will reportedly have to trigger Jorge Salinas’ release clause if they want to beat Barcelona to the Racing Santander left-back.

Racing sporting director Chema Aragon revealed a £12m-plus offer had already been rejected, insisting the club will only sell for the 19-year-old’s €16m clause.

Aragon said: “A club has offered €14m for Jorge Salinas, and Racing have rejected it.

“His release clause is €16 million, and the club will not budge from that figure.”

Salinas is contracted until 2029 after helping Racing secure promotion to La Liga last season.
