Ex-Liverpool forward Emile Heskey believes the capture of PSG star would be a statement signing for the Reds.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with the French international winger. However, PSG are rumoured to want a steep fee for the player.

Heskey told BOYLE Sports: "Signing Bradley Barcola would be an amazing coup for Liverpool because he provides the pace and directness we've been missing on the left wing.

"We've been spoiled with Sadio Mané and Luis Díaz, and now we need Barcola to get the fans off their seats again.

"Liverpool looked to have missed out on Yan Diomande to PSG, but that could open the door to Barcola leaving, it would be a statement signing for Andoni Iraola that’s for sure."

Ex-Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to become the next Germany head coach, with talks ongoing.

Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith, speaking on behalf of Best Betting Sites, told Liverpool.com this week that the appointment is an exciting one.

"Different demands, isn't it? But you know, he's a good manager still," Smith said.

"You've got to work with what you've got in terms of the national side. You can't be buying players. But there's enough certainly within Germany.

The winger is said to be valued at around £130m by PSG. Saha told Live Football Tickets: “Bradley Barcola is a terrific player. He has already won two Champions Leagues, and he could even win the World Cup over the next few weeks, his achievements for such a young player are staggering.

"He has become a much improved player over the past few seasons, he gets better and better every year, and he can go right to the very top of football.

“What Barcola needs is to move somewhere where he is going to be first choice in his position week in, week out. His confidence will improve ten-fold once that happens, and then he will be a way more dangerous player.

“He has enormous potential, and I’m not surprised Liverpool are looking at him. They need a replacement for Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo has looked uncomfortable at times for them out wide. Barcola could easily fill either of those positions.

"He is so direct, creative, and he has the ability to go in behind, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a bidding war for him go on all summer between top sides if he wants to leave PSG and cement his place in a top Premier League side.”

Jordan Henderson has successfully undergone surgery on the wrist injury he suffered during England's celebrations after their 3-2 win over Mexico at the World Cup.

The former Liverpool captain sustained the bizarre injury when he slipped while attempting to jump over an advertising board after several England players went to greet the away fans in Mexico City.

Henderson landed awkwardly before getting immediate treatment. He posted: "Surgery done! Let's get ready for the big one Saturday. Thank you to all the staff that looked after me at Kansas City Orthopedic Institute. Especially the 3 surgeons who carried out the operation."

Henderson, who accompanied those words with a picture from his hospital bed alongside the surgeons, made no mention of whether he will be cleared to return in time to feature again at the World Cup, but the 36-year-old is expected to remain with the squad for the remainder of their campaign in North America. Liverpool icon John Barnes believed Mohamed Salah will have to settle for a major pay cut if he wants to continue playing in Europe next season.

Salah has recently left the Reds after nine years, and speculation is rife as to where he will play next. Teams in the MLS and Saudi Arabia have been linked with the winger, but there is a view that he may wish to stay in one of Europe's top leagues.

Speaking via Betfred, Barnes said: “No other club in Europe is going to give him the wages that he wants.

"If he wants to stay in Europe and he’s happy to take a decrease in salary, then fine.

"I don’t think he’s going to be the player he was but even though he’s lost some of his pace, he’s the type of player that can adapt to becoming a creator and playmaker.

"I just don’t think a top club in Europe is going to give Mo what he wants, but I would completely admire him for taking less money and continuing in a more competitive league.”

During a break from talking about his beloved cat, ex-Reds star Danny Murphy has claimed that he hopes Liverpool can sign Bradley Barcola this month.

He also discussed how he isn't all that concerned about Liverpool missing out on Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande to PSG.

Asked if he hopes the Reds can tie down Barcola, Murphy told BetWright: “I hope so because I think he’s a terrific player. I don’t think they should have been looking at Diomande for the money they were talking about anyway. He is a super talent, but that’s all he is: a talent. He’s a prospect.

“Paying over the odds for a player based on potential, I’m not sure over £100m for a player who hasn’t a body of work that justifies that money was the right way to go. In a way, it might be a blessing.

“Barcola would be less expensive and obviously maybe surplus to requirements with the signings PSG are making. We’ve seen in the Champions League for the last couple of years now the impact he can have on games, so it’s a less risky signing."

Liverpool appear to have been dealt a new transfer blow this summer, with Manchester City wonderkid Xavier Parker set to turn down the chance to move to Anfield.

The 16-year-old had looked close to switching Manchester for Merseyside, with reports last month indicating that the midfielder had been in talks with the Reds as his contract at City came to an end.

A new report has indicated he could be about to reject their advances. According to The Secret Scout on X, City now expect him to tie him to a new deal following formal talks on Tuesday.

It's another blow for Iraola after Kennet Eichhorn rejected a move to Anfield in order to stay in Germany earlier in the summer, signing for Bayer Leverkusen instead.
