Liverpool Offered Deal to Hijack PSG Move for Mika Godts

Liverpool have already added Osasuna winger Victor Munoz this summer but Andoni Iraola's side remain in the market for another left sided winger to bolster their ranks.

The Reds beat Newcastle United to sign the 22-year-old for £35 million. At the time, Liverpool were also believed to be preparing an £86 million offer for RB Leipzig man Yan Diomande, but the in-demand forward now appears to be Real Madrid bound.

Liverpool will now move on to other targets on their summer shopping list and, just as they did to the Magpies, could hijack Premier League rivals' interest in a certain Ajax winger.

Mika Godts turned in a scintillating season for the Dutch side last term, registering 'superstar' numbers with 17 goals and 15 assists across 44 appearances. The 21-year-old has enjoyed an equally impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign with assists in both of the two 4-1 wins over Vojvodina as Ajax take part in UEFA Conference League Qualifying matches.

Those performances have turned the heads of some of Europe's big guns. Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been credited with interest in Godts.

TEAMtalk also names Liverpool as potential suitors and the Merseyside outfit may have to act soon if they are determined to bring Godts to Anfield. The Reds, and top-flight rivals, were informed over the weekend that Paris Saint-Germain have 'stepped up' their interest in the player.

PSG had also been linked with Leipzig man Diomande but missed out on that deal. The French giants are known to have held 'positive discussions' over a move for Godts with football advisor Luis Campos a big fan of the player, and believer that he will fit in Luis Enrique's long term plans at the Parc des Princes.

Godts is said to be open to a move to Ligue 1, but aware that he would face competition for a place in the PSG starting XI. The player is said to be valued at around £51 million, a hefty fee for a winger yet to play in one of Europe's biggest leagues, but the forward would represent a cut-price alternative to Diomande.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff stated publicly that 'Godts will leave' over the weekend, 'but only at the right time and for the right price'.
