Rochdale 0-0 York City

Ben Brookes doesn't quite get his throw right and the ball goes straight into the hands of Oliver Whatmuff.

York win the ball back on halfway though and Josh Stones has a strike from a tight angle but it is well held by Whatmuff.

Great control from York's Ollie Banks and he sends a curling box into the middle.

York have a throw in - which Ben Brookes will launch into the Rochdale area.

It has been a game of few clear-cut chances.

The question as the second half begins is how long Rochdale can leave it to throw caution to the wind.

Dale know they only need to find one goal, but the nature of this game is perfect for York.

We could be in for a frantic finish.

HALF-TIME

Rochdale 0-0 York City

Half-time and it remains goalless at Spotland.

Little on goalmouth chances to tell you about but that is perhaps to be expected in a game of this magnitude.

It has been enthralling stuff though. Ollie Pearce had the clearest sight of goal but his effort was superbly blocked by recovering Rochdale defender Ethan Banks-Landell, who has been immense in the first 45 minutes.

A cross comes in from the right but once more Rochdale captain Ethan Banks-Landell is there to clear the lines.

A corner is bent in from York's Ben Brookes but Oliver Whatmuff gets a good hand to tip the ball around for a corner on the other side, which Rochdale eventually deal with.

The ball is sent in from the right by Rochdale and once more Emmanuel Dieseruvwe is making himself a nuisance but the referee blows up for a free-kick to York inside their own six-yard box.

Now then....

Rochdale keeper Oliver Whatmuff is penalised for handling outside the area.

Replays suggest that one looked harsh. No booking for Whatmuff but York have a free-kick in a very threatening position.

And that ends up being completely wasted. Ben Brookes chooses the wrong club out the bag and fires about 10 yards over from an angle.

York manager Stuart Maynard's reaction paints a picture to say the very least.
