RMS FC produced a sensational second-half comeback to edge Cape Media 7-4 in a breathtaking football contest at the Kenya School of Law grounds in Karen on Saturday.

What had initially appeared to be another commanding afternoon for Cape Media turned into a nightmare as RMS FC unleashed wave after wave of attacks in a pulsating encounter that kept spectators on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

Cape Media drew first blood in the sixth minute through Keith Otieno, who calmly slotted home after a defensive lapse. The early goal gave Cape Media confidence and rhythm, with Brian Mwilu doubling the lead in the 22nd minute after a swift counterattack sliced through the RMS defense.

RMS FC responded almost immediately as Newton Andika pulled one back in the 24th minute, igniting hopes of a comeback.

The turning point came three minutes later when Cape Media earned a penalty after a foul inside the box.

With the chance to extend the lead, Cape Media looked destined to take full control of the match, but the RMS FC goalkeeper Godfrey Ashiali produced a magnificent penalty save in the 27th minute to keep his side alive.

The shot-stopper went on to make a string of outstanding saves throughout the game, frustrating Cape Media’s attackers and inspiring confidence among his teammates.

However, Levi Akunda restored Cape Media’s cushion in the 36th minute to hand his side a 3-1 advantage. Kelvin Karanja struck just before halftime for RMS FC, leaving the scores at 3-2 heading into the break.

The second half exploded into life as RMS FC returned with renewed energy and purpose.

Emmanuel Ochieng leveled matters in the 58th minute with a clinical finish before Cape Media briefly regained the lead through Erick Ochieng in the 52nd minute during a chaotic spell of attacking football.

But from then on, the match belonged entirely to RMS FC.

Midfielder Fidelis Ochieng equalized in the 72nd minute before Dan Ogega completed the turnaround ten minutes later with a composed finish that sent the RMS bench into wild celebrations.

Cape Media struggled to cope with the relentless pressure, and Emmanuel Ochieng added his second of the afternoon in the 88th minute to put the game beyond reach.

There was still time for Joseph Onyeit to seal the emphatic victory deep into stoppage time with RMS FC’s seventh goal.

The result extends the Kenya School of Law- based side’s unbeaten run to five matches, while Cape Media will rue missed chances and a defensive collapse that saw the capitulate in heartbreaking fashion.
