Pair of Jayhawks Selected to All

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women's tennis received two selections to the 2026 All-Big 12 Tennis teams, the Big 12 Conference announced Thursday.

Junior Kyoka Kubo was named to the All-Big 12 First Team in singles, while senior Heike Janse van Vuuren was selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team in singles.

"Kyoka and Heike played really well for us this year at the top of the lineup," Kansas head coach Todd Chapman said. "I am happy for them to be recognized by the Big 12 coaches for their hard work and results."

Kubo earned her third-career All-Big 12 honor, after being named to the All-Big 12 All-Freshman Team in 2024 and All-Big 12 Second Team in singles in 2025. She holds a 12-6 record in singles play this spring, including a 5-3 mark in Big 12 play. She is currently ranked No. 73 in the latest ITA singles rankings.

van Vuuren received her fourth-career All-Big 12 honor, after being selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team in doubles and All-Big 12 Freshman Team in 2023 and the All-Big 12 First Team in doubles in 2025. She currently holds an 11-8 record in singles this season, with a 7-4 record in Big 12 play.

The Jayhawks were recently selected to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in program history, including the eighth time under Chapman. Kansas will travel to Norman, Oklahoma to take on No. 6-seed Oklahoma on Saturday, May 2 at 2 p.m. CT.
