Liverpool FC launch new 2026-27 home kit inspired by famous title-winning season

Liverpool FC have today launched their new home kit for the 26-27 season

Liverpool FC and adidas have today unveiled the club’s new 2026-27 home kit. It is inspired by the iconic adidas strip worn during the club's memorable 1989-90 title-winning season.

Bringing together past and present, the new home kit pays tribute to one of the most celebrated eras in the club’s history, reimagining the memorable adidas design for a new generation.

Widely regarded as one of Liverpool FC’s most iconic adidas kits, the original 1989-91 strip became synonymous with one of the club’s greatest teams as it secured a record-breaking 18th league title - more than any other English club at the time.

Managed by Sir Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool finished nine points clear at the top of the First Division, with Anfield greats including Ian Rush, John Barnes, Alan Hansen and Bruce Grobbelaar helping define a memorable era in the club’s history.

The Liverpool adidas 2026/27 home kit is on sale now at the official LFC Shop. It's also available at rival retailers such as Fanatics and adidas.

As part of the campaign, the Reds and adidas introduce a creative concept that bridges eras through AI reimagined visuals.

Club legends Rush, Barnes, Hansen and Grobbelaar are featured as they were in 1989, wearing the original adidas kit that inspired the release, alongside current players including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Grace Fisk and Faye Kirby in the new strip - reinforcing the campaign message that greatness transcends generations.

The new home shirt draws inspiration from the original adidas design, instantly recognisable for its dynamic geometric pattern, combining timeless club heritage with modern performance design.

The deep red base is elevated through a contemporary all-over graphic that echoes the visual language of the late-80s original, while delivering a sharper, modern execution. Clean white detailing across the club crest, adidas logo and trims reinforces the classic aesthetic, while the reimagined print channels the energy and attitude of 80s football culture.

On the reverse of the jersey, the 97-emblem encased by the eternal flames sits proudly at the nape of the neck in memory of those children, women and men who were unlawfully killed as a result of the Hillsborough disaster.

The club has introduced a new Liverpool name and number style for the back of shirt, which aligns with the club’s new typeface introduced last season, which draws on the wings and talons of the Liver bird for inspiration.

The 2026/27 home kit is completed with deep red shorts and socks, creating a bold, unified look.

Alongside the home shirt, adidas has also launched a new goalkeeper kit featuring the same iconic design, reimagined in a distinctive Liverpool green colourway inspired by the era.

The launch also includes the club’s new domestic training range, featuring a pre-match top, training short sleeve top, training drill top, long down jacket, hoodie, pant, jacket and tee, alongside the new anthem jacket, DNA culture wear collection, stadium range, hats and accessories.

Season Ticket Holders, All Red Full, Light and Junior members will receive a 10 per cent discount. Liverpool fans have taken to social media to share their first impressions of the Liverpool adidas 2026/27 home kit.

Writing on X, one said: "Adidas have done their usual magic. Looks very impressive."

Not everyone is sold on the new kit, as this commenter said: "Looks ok, but the original was probably my least favourite kit."
