The full back has confirmed he will leave Gers after 11 years at Ibrox at the end of the season

Rangers players from past and present have poured in with tributes following the news that James Tavernier will be leaving the club.

The 34-year-old has confirmed he will bring the curtain down on his 11-year stay at Ibrox when his contract expires at the end of the season.

In that time, Tavernier has racked up a remarkable 144 goals in 562 appearances in all competitions from right back and skippered the Light Blues to the Premiership title and the Europa League final, as well as successes in the Scottish Cup and League Cup.

The former Newcastle youngster will look to bow out on a high by helping Gers claim another league championship in his final few weeks in Govan, with Danny Rohl's side trailing leaders Hearts by just a single point with five games to go.

Tavernier penned a wordy statement confirming his pending exit and dozens of his former teammates and managers immediately responded with tributes on social media.

And one of the most poignant came from Hull City midfielder John Lundstram, who wrote: "One of the best. Never ever hid in the hard times and delivered at the biggest times! absolute legend."

Leon Balogun penned: "Came as a young man, leaving as a legend! My skipper", while Steven Davis added: "Incredible service to the club, drive the boys and make sure you get the send off you deserve."

Ex Ibrox winger Jordan Jones said: Incredible leader, player and person Tav, be proud skip."

Former Northern Ireland star and diehard Rangers fan Stuart Dallas commented: "What a player, an incredible servant to the club."

Tavernier was also inundated with responses from his current teammates as well as his old boss Steven Gerrard.
