Cristiano Ronaldo receives bombshell news hours before title decider

Cristiano Ronaldo is just one game away from winning his first Saudi Pro League title with Al-Nassr, but there's now set to be a massive change at the club next season

Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus plans to leave the club at the end of this season, a bombshell report has revealed hours before they could be crowned champions. Jesus, 71, is out of contract next month and doesn't intend to open talks over a new deal.

The Portuguese hopes to go out in style by winning the Saudi Pro League title. Led by Cristiano Ronaldo, his side are currently five points clear at the top of the table with only one match left to play.

But after a dramatic 1-1 draw between the two title challengers on Tuesday, Al-Hilal still have an outside chance of lifting the trophy. That's because they have one game in hand on Al-Nassr which will be played at home to Neom on Saturday night.

Should they fail to win, Al-Nassr will be confirmed as champions. It'd be Jesus' first title with the club - and his last.

ESPN report that Jesus has decided to leave Riyadh, while he wants the Portuguese national team to be his next job. The ex-Benfica manager would, of course, need current boss Roberto Martinez to leave after the World Cup for that vacancy to open up.

Martinez's departure has been rumoured, so Jesus is hoping to lead his country at Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup which Portugal are co-hosting. Jesus took over at Al-Nassr last summer, becoming the fifth different manager whom Ronaldo has worked under since moving to the Middle East.

The 71-year-old previously won the Saudi title with Al-Hilal in 2024. His team were seconds away from being crowned this season's champions until conceding a late equaliser in Tuesday's clash.

Al-Nassr were preparing to celebrate before a long throw-in was hurled into the box deep into stoppage time. Goalkeeper Bento came out to claim but he collided with defender Inigo Martinez, causing him to spill the ball and let it drift into the net.

Ronaldo looked devastated on the bench, as his wait for major silverware in Saudi Arabia was extended. " The dream is close," the former Manchester United superstar later wrote on Instagram.

"Heads up, we have one more step to take! Thank you all for the amazing support tonight!"
