Alex Eala rises to No. 38 in WTA rankings ahead of Strasbourg Open

Alex Eala rose four spots in the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, climbing to No. 38 ahead of her debut at the Strasbourg Open on Monday afternoon.

The Filipina tennis sensation improved from her previous rank of No. 42 following her campaign at the Italian Open, where she reached the Round of 32 before falling to world No. 2 Elena Rybakina.

That gallant run earned Eala 55 additional points as she now holds 1,340 overall points.

Eala will look to draw inspiration from her new world ranking in her new campaign. She will face Oleksandra Oliynykova of Ukraine to kick off her Strasbourg Open run in the Round 32 later today.

Olinykova is currently No. 66 in the WTA rankings and is also coming off a Round of 32 exit at the Italian Open, falling to No. 13 Linda Noskova in two sets.
