Rishabh Pant sends a message to Sanjiv Goenka live from Wankhede Stadium: 'The only promise is...'

Rishabh Pant made an honest and emotional statement for Sanjiv Goenka after the toss in the IPL 2026 clash between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium.

After losing the toss, Pant spoke about the tough season LSG have had and admitted that the team has not performed well so far. He said the break before this match helped the players reflect on their mistakes and think about how they can improve both as a team and individually.

Pant also spoke about the role of owner Sanjiv Goenka, saying he has had a difficult time this season because of the team’s poor results. He highlighted how passionate Goenka is about cricket and the franchise, and said the players feel they have let both the owner and the fans down.

“It definitely did, a lot of reflection, what we can do and what we can do as a team and as an individual. One thing we always found out, it’s been a tough season for us and there is no running away from that, but one person for us has the most difficult time was our owner Mr. Goenka, he’s one of that guy. Everyone knows how passionate he is about cricket and about his team,” Pant said.

“But at the same time we let down our fans down. The only promise is from this break is, we’re gonna give our 200%, try to bring that happiness back and hopefully we can do it for our owner and the fans for sure,” he added.

Interestingly, Goenka was not present during LSG’s previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders, which caught attention as he is usually seen closely involved with the team. He had reacted on social media during that game, praising the bowling effort but did not mention Pant or the loss, which came in a Super Over.
