LRCA to utilise all resources for promotion of cricket: Jahangir Afzal

LAHORE - Lahore Regional Cricket Association (LRCA) Vice President Jahangir Afzal has expressed his determination to utilise all available resources for the improvement and promotion of cricket under the leadership of President Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed. Talking to media, Jahangir Afzal said that raising the standard of cricket in Lahore and providing maximum opportunities to young cricketers would remain the top priorities of the association. He said Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed has always focused on strengthening grassroots cricket, ensuring merit-based selections and organising quality competitions. “We are part of his team and will continue working with full dedication to further develop cricket in Lahore,” he added. Jahangir highlighted the importance of club cricket, describing it as the real nursery for producing talented players.

He said that strengthening club cricket at the grassroots level was essential for discovering future stars.

Referring to former Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara’s recent views on the importance of club cricket and community involvement, he said that this culture was once the identity of Lahore cricket and efforts would be made to restore its former glory.

“Lahore is the city that has produced many legendary Pakistani cricketers. Our mission is to revive cricket at the basic level and create an environment where young talent can flourish,” he said.

Jahangir praised LRCA President Kh Nadeem as an experienced cricket administrator and expressed confidence that his leadership would help bring further improvement to the game.

He added that Lahore cricket has achieved several national successes over the past three years, and the association would work hard to continue this winning tradition in the future.
