Lahore region cricket gets leadership boost with new appointments

LAHORE - The Lahore Region Cricket Association (LRCA) has strengthened its leadership team with the formal appointment of Nasir Khalili as Senior Vice President and Naushad Ahmed as Vice President, while Gaddafi Cricket Club president and veteran organiser Manzoor-ur-Rehman has announced his support for the leadership of LRCA president Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed. Khalili received his official appointment notification at a ceremony held at the association’s president’s office at Shapes Gulberg, where Kh Nadeem and the PCB Director Infrastructure jointly presented the notification. Welcoming Khalili, Kh Nadeem said his extensive administrative experience, leadership qualities and longstanding association with cricket would contribute significantly to the development of cricket in Lahore.

Khalili, who has long been associated with Mughalpura Institute Cricket Club, also serves as Chief Engineer (Mechanical) at Pakistan Railways. Khalili thanked the Lahore Region leadership and general body for their confidence and pledged to use his experience to strengthen regional cricket. He also expressed his intention to use the Pakistan Railways platform to create greater opportunities for young cricketers and build stronger links between institutional and regional cricket. The PCB Director Infrastructure welcomed Khalili’s appointment, describing his inclusion in the Lahore Region leadership as a positive development. Pakistan Railways cricket team head coach Javed Iqbal also attended the ceremony and congratulated the newly appointed official.

Meanwhile, Naushad Ahmed formally assumed the position of Vice President at a ceremony held at the LCCA Ground, where Kh Nadeem and Model Town Zone president Malik Imran Bacha presented him with his appointment notification. Kh Nadeem praised Naushad’s extensive administrative experience, noting that he had served three terms as president of the West Zone and made significant contributions to the promotion and administration of cricket. He said Naushad’s experience would prove valuable in strengthening the Lahore Region. In a related development, Gaddafi Cricket Club president and senior cricket organiser Manzoor-ur-Rehman announced his formal association with Kh Nadeem’s group following a meeting with the LRCA president. Senior organisers Abdul Majid Khan, Owais Sarwar and Chaudhry Ghulam Ali were also present.

Manzoor-ur-Rehman expressed his support for efforts aimed at promoting club cricket, protecting the interests and dignity of cricket organisers and creating greater opportunities for young players. Khawaja Nadeem welcomed his association, describing him as an experienced and dedicated cricket organiser whose services would be valuable to Lahore cricket.
