Barcelona star mocked for mistaking a cameraman’s bald head for a football in win over Atletico Madrid

Spanish midfielder Pedri, 23, went searching for a ball in the 70th minute of Sunday’s match with his side locked level at 1-1 with Atletico Madrid.

He initially threw his arms up and jesticulated at the absence of a ball anywhere around him, but it was what happened next that caught the attention of the viewers.

Pedri turned and walked towards a bald cameraman who was situated behind the advertising hoardings.

Then, when he reached the individual, he turned back away and appeared confused, while the cameraman pointed towards the corner flag.

Cruel fans were quick to troll the superstar on social media after the “hairless” blunder went viral and has been watched 1.9 million times.

One posted: “Pedri mistook the bald guy for a ball.”

A second wrote: “I can’t believe it. It looks like something out of Looney Tunes.”

A third commented: “From this moment on, FIFA requires bald people to wear a cap or wig.”

A fourth said: “What a perfect video.”

Another added: “I’m in tears, he’s about to grab his head to take a corner.”

Barcelona went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to a late Robert Lewandowski winner — a result which moves the Catalan giants seven points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the LaLiga table.

Barcelona will face Atletico again this week in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Speaking after Sunday’s win, Barca head coach Hansi Flick said: “The Champions League will be totally different.

“At this level, everyone gives 10% more effort because they know what is at stake.

“Both of us want to be in the semifinals, so the intensity is naturally higher. But we don’t see it as a burden; these are exactly the kind of matches we train for.”
