Carlo Ancelotti's son Davide predicts Chelsea's Estevao to be the star of the World Cup

The World Cup is just a few months away, and Chelsea will have a whole heap of talent on show. One of those gunning for the trophy itself will be Estevao, under Carlo Ancelotti.

Just in Brazil’s squad, Chelsea have Andrey Santos, Estevao, and Joao Pedro vying for the most coveted trophy in football. Enzo Fernandez and possibly incoming Valentin Barco will be hoping to retain it.

The world’s best will be on show, not just on the pitch but in the dugout. Thomas Tuchel, Carlo Ancelotti, Lionel Scaloni, Julian Nagelsmann, and Roberto Martinez are among the best managers in world football.

Ancelotti is in his first stint as a National Team manager after a glittering career that includes Real Madrid, Chelsea, AC Milan, and other giants in club football. His son Davide will join Brazil’s coaching staff.

Davide Ancelotti backs Estevao to shine at the World Cup

Carlo’s son Davide was sacked by Botafogo earlier this year, after links with Premier League clubs like Leeds United. He has worked as his father’s assistant at clubs like Bayern, Napoli, Everton and Real.

Speaking to BBC Sounds this week, Ancelotti has predicted Estevao to be the star of the tournament as he and his Father look to deliver Brazil’s first World Cup since Ronaldo scored twice against Germany in 2002.

“I think the guy that will surprise you is someone who is not so well-known. But in terms of attacking players that we have, we have a lot. We have a lot of talent, a lot of different profiles,” Ancelotti said.

“And I think from the times I’ve been there, if I have to give you a name, of course, Estevao is one of the rising talents of Brazil. Last international break, he was not involved because he came back from an injury.

“It’s really important to have all the players fit when we make a list. The previous list was different and he was not involved. But he is a really big talent,” Davide summarised, when discussing Chelsea’s Estevao.

If Davide’s comments were not clear enough already that Estevao would be picked for the World Cup, reports in Brazil state that his father has chosen Estevao as a key part of the side, on one condition.

Reports state that if Estevao remains fit, he will be in the Brazil squad. Estevao has just returned from an injury and is expected to get a decent amount of game time with Chelsea between now and the summer.

Brazil fans will be desperate to see Estevao included. Not least because of his breakthrough at Palmeiras, but because of his five goals in 11 Brazil caps. This is the future of Brazil, possibly, the next Neymar.
