Quetta Gladiators have appointed former Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir as their bowling coach for the ongoing 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), which is scheduled to run until May 3.Tanvir, who was part of the Gladiators squad that won the PSL title in 2019, will join the franchise on Tuesday. He replaces Wahab Riaz in the role. The change comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) barred Riaz, who is also serving as the mentor of the women’s national team, from holding dual roles due to a potential conflict of interest.Initially, the PCB had issued a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to Riaz, allowing him to work with a PSL franchise. This led to his appointment as both director and bowling coach of the Gladiators. However, the board later rescinded the permission following a review of his commitments. The decision reflects the PCB’s strict enforcement of its policy that permanent board officials cannot hold positions in domestic franchise cricket at the same time. The coaching change comes as the Gladiators currently sit fifth in the PSL 11 standings with two points from two matches.Last season’s runners-up started their campaign with a 14-run loss to Karachi Kings but bounced back with a 60-run victory over debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen.Their next match is scheduled against three-time champions Islamabad United at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
