It states that they are only expected to enter the market for reinforcements in the position if there is value to be found.

It is understood that they see RB Leipzig's approach for Barry as vindication of their latest transfer decision.

That could set Everton up to fail next season, and not progress from their disappointing end to the previous campaign.

The L3 outfit will be took to improve on their 13th-place finish last season, in which they missed out on Europe by four points.

If they fail to bring in a striker, and persist with Beto and Barry as expected, it could be disastrous and speaks volumes about Moyes' decision making.

The duo notched 17 goals last season between them, which is simply not enough for a side that wants to play continental football.

Delap could thrive in a new surrounding, one where he is the main man, rather than being just an option for Xabi Alonso's side, alongside the likes of Joao Pedro and Nicolas Jackson.

If he is available, it makes sense to bring him in, and add some much needed firepower so the Blues can reach their ambitions for the new campaign.
