(Pic credit: IPL)NEW DELHI: Ryan Rickelton produced a night to remember, smashing the fastest century in Mumbai Indians history while also registering the franchise’s highest-ever individual score during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. The left-hander raced to his maiden IPL hundred in just 44 balls, breaking the long-standing record jointly held by Sanath Jayasuriya (2008) and Tilak Varma (2026), both of whom had reached the milestone in 45 deliveries.Record-breaking knock lights up Wankhede Rickelton’s innings, however, did not stop at just the fastest hundred. The South African went on to remain unbeaten on a stunning 123 off 55 balls, now the highest individual score in Mumbai Indians’ history. In doing so, he surpassed Jayasuriya’s iconic 114 not out against Chennai Super Kings at the same venue in the inaugural 2008 season. Opening in place of the injured Quinton de Kock , Rickelton made full use of the opportunity. He and Will Jacks gave MI a flying start with a 93-run stand in just seven overs. Even after quick wickets, Rickelton anchored the innings with authority, finding support from Naman Dhir.
